Victoria United FC aka OPOPO have been crowned champions of the 2023-24 MTN Elite One championship after a 2-2 draw against Stade Renard on the last day of the title playoffs at Mbappe Leppe stadium in Douala on Thursday, April 18.
The Limbe-based club finished top of the table with 13 points after playing seven intense games Ebua Dieudonne put the Limbe side ahead after 20 minutes, then came a quick double brace from Victor Ngobara Ndongmoui of Stade Renard to keep Victoria’s hopes in check.
However, things turned around ten minutes to the end of the game as 17-year-old Nathan Douala beautifully sent Kerrido the wrong way to make it 2-2 for Victoria United.
Victoria United FC brought Cotonsport of Garoua’s run of three consecutive title wins to an end.
The Southwest outfit will represent Cameroon in the preliminary rounds of the CAF Champions League in July this year
