Victor Osimhen will be taking a legal action against Napoli following a controversial post on the club’s official TikTok account that targeted him.
His agent, Roberto Calenda, issued a statement in which he threatened to take legal actions against Napoli.
“What happened today on Napoli’s official profile on the TikTok platform is not acceptable. A video mocking Victor was first made public and then, but now belatedly, deleted,” Calenda stated.
“This is a serious matter that has caused significant harm to the player, adding to the challenges he has faced recently, including media scrutiny and fake news. We reserve the right to take legal action and any necessary steps to protect Victor,” he added.
What transpired
The 24-year-old striker had a heated argument with his manager after being substituted during the club’s goalless draw against Bologna over the weekend.
In an effort to make amends, Victor tendered an apology to his manager and teammates recounting his frustration during the game.
Osimhen had missed a penalty during the game, making him goalless in three matches for Naples.
Just when it seemed like things were going on well, Napoli’s official TikTok account posted two mockery videos about Victor Osimhen.
These posts quickly caused wide reactions on social media, with many fans accusing the club of racism.
The results from these posts has strained the relationship between Victor Osimhen and Napoli to the point where the player removed all Napoli-related content from his Instagram account.
The Nigerian striker might likely leave the club in January with less than two years left on his contract with Napoli and has not yet signed a contract extension.
It appears that the relationship between Victor Osimhen and his Italian club is broken. Napoli is yet to make an official statement on this issue.
