Some Cameroonian Transport Agencies have unanimously shunned orders by separatist fighters, instructing them to halt circulation in the North West Region.
This was the resolution of a meeting held by the promoters of inter-urban transport agencies today September 19, 2023, in the North West Region.
In a document signed by seven agencies namely: Amour Mezam, Oasis Travels, Vatican Express, Guarantee Express, Moghamo Express, Nso Boyz Express, People’s Express, and Mondial Express, they revealed that circulation will be maintained in the city.
“We have agreed to continue with our normal daily activities of ensuring the free movement of the population of the region and their goods to and from Bamenda without any fear from whoever the author of the above publications of shutdown,” stated the communique.
They went ahead to call on Taximen, traders, and bike riders to,” join in solidarity with our union in declaring no shutdown for express services.”
In a video recently circulated on social media, a certain colonel ‘armour car’ who presented himself as the spoke person of an Ambazonian group announced the suspension of 7 transport agencies.
In reaction, the transport agencies have warned the separatist fighters to, “stay away from our agencies, buses, passengers, etc.”
“On Wednesday 20th September 2023, all our agencies shall be opened for services from 7:00 a.m. prompt. Consequently, all passengers and travelers are free to book to all destinations in the republic,” they insisted.
It is worth noting that
movement into the North West Region, especially via buses was crippled as most agencies failed to go operational.
