General Brice Clotaire Oligui Nguema, the new leader of Gabon yesterday, September 19 left his country for a visit to Equatorial Guinea.
The transitional president embarked on his first-ever official visit abroad since his ascension to power.
The visit, reports say is not only to enhance relations with Equatorial Guinean President Teodoro Obiang Nguema Mbasogo but also to establish his legitimacy on the international and regional scene.
The meeting aims at opening a new era of bilateral cooperation, in the security, economic and energy fields.
General Brice Clotaire Oligui Nguema took over from Ali Bongo Ondimba following a coup d’etat orchestrated by the country’s army force on August 30, 2023.
