Newly appointed officials of the University of Buea (UB) have been installed. Appointed by Presidential decree on August 30, 2023.
The Vice Chancellor of UB, Prof Ngomo Horace Manga installed the Deputy Vice Chancellor incharge of Teaching and Professionalism and Development of ICTs (DVC/TIC), the Dean of the Faculty of Arts and the Director of the College of Technology.
With a charge to maintain the standards of the University of Buea, in teaching, research and outreach.
The ceremony on Thursday, 07 September at the Dorothy Djeuma Amphitheatre brought together stakeholders of the university community, traditional authorities, family members and well wishers.
In his charge the VC, Prof. Ngomo Horace Manga called on the installed to “quickly insert themselves into their various responsibility. No time to waste, particularly given the fact that we are at the beginning of the year.”
Saluting the trust of the Presidency on the appointed, he made it clear “they must work hard to merit the confidence of the Head of State by ensuring that all the exigencies of quality assurance, the elements that allow UB to train and do research such that they are not compromised or diminished”.
Prof. Michael Ekonde Sone-Ajang is the UB’s new DVC/TIC. He says he will ensure there is continuity from what his predecessors did.
Being the former Dean of UB’s College of Technology, he believes with his background and experience the University of Buea will fully emerge technologically. “I will come with a lot of ICT innovations like tracking of teaching using platforms. Also we will ensure E-learning is a reality and we will be taking UB to become a veritable leading ICT University in Cameroon.” He established.
Commissioned along side Prof. Michael Apuge Etuge as Dean of the Faculty Arts and Prof. Matthias Fru Fonteh as Director of the college of Technology, much is expected as they fill in gaps with high standards says UB’s VC.
