The President of Victoria United FC Valentine Nkwain aka Bobdidy has once again promised to pump in more money to see Victoria United FC make an impact at the CAF Champions League.
Bobdidy used the opportunity during the club’s trophy tour in Yaounde to reassure fans of his desire to see the club grow more.
Speaking to CRTV he said “I am ready to put in more than FCFA 1 billion, even if we don’t win the cup (CAF Champions League), because to build, you have to destroy.”
Victoria United FC also known as OPOPO kicked off their national trophy tour on Tuesday, marking their victory in the Cameroon MTN Elite One Championship.
During the presentation of the championship trophy at the Prime Minister’s office, Prime Minister Dion Ngute supported the club with the sum of Ten Million Francs CFA (10,000,000 FCFA).
The club continued thier trophy tour on Wednesday in Tiko where they were recieved by the Lord Mayor of the Tiko municipality, Chief Peter Messoso who supported the team with 1 millions Francs.
The Elite One champions also made a stop at the South West Governor’s Office, Governor Bernard Okalia Bilai who donated 500,000 FCFA.
Bobdidy and his team recieved a heroic homecoming on Thursday in Limbe where they presented the trophy to the population.
Though he has been heavily criticised for alleged fraud and match fixing, Bobdidy has garnered respect for his huge financial contribution at the club.
Talking to the press after OPOPO’S title victory, Bobdidy outrightly stated “when I promise, I keep my word”.
OPOPO will represent Cameroon in the CAF Champions League in July this year after emerging Elite One Champions.
