Once again separatist fighters in the English-speaking regions of Cameroon have betrayed international trust through unlawful and merciless killings. International human right organization, Amnesty International has in strong terms condemned separatists’ open killing of two locals of Guzang, Momo Division North West Region.
“This heinous crime is yet another manifestation of the daily horror experienced by the inhabitants of the towns and villages in the Anglophone regions over which armed groups are trying to impose their control.” Read the statement issued following the barbaric act of Wednesday, 06 October 2023 at the Guzang Market square.
The West and Central Africa Director of Amnesty International, Samira Daoud, has expressed the need for proper investigation and prosecution of the perpetrators. He said, “We call on the authorities to carry out an urgent and impartial investigation to identify those responsible and bring them to justice.”

The video circulating online of the killing has been confirmed by the Amnesty International Evidence Lab with its accompanying details. The rights institution cites the “the ambazonia Governing Council, a separatist organisation linked to the Ambazonia Defence Forces armed group, claimed responsibility for.”
Amnesty International’s report explain that, “In the video, the two victims can be seen talking to at least two armed men before they are suddenly shot in front of dozens of people who were standing on the side of the road. More than 10 gunshots can be heard.”
The international human right advocates have issued an appeal for justice to be served the perpetrators of the act. “Authorities in Cameroon must immediately take steps to investigate all allegations of serious human rights abuses committed by both State forces and armed groups and prevent more abuses from happening,” Amnesty International pressed.
To recollect, Mbanyamsig Hans Ndi and Aburo Cletus were murdered for allegedly helping state security in the area track separatist activities.
