After losing to Egypt in their first game Cameroon has been defeated again by host Nigeria 1-3 (19-25, 25-20, 25-13, 25-22) in their second match of the ongoing 2023 Girl’s U17 African Nations Volleyball Championship in Abuja, Nigeria.
After leading by 6 to 2 points in the opening set, Nigeria wasted a lot of opportunities, making mistakes and failing to recover stray balls from the Cameroonian team. Team Cameroon then used the opportunity to scored 25 to 19 points and win the first set against the Nigerian spikers.
The second set saw Nigeria cruising over Cameron 25 to 20 points. The third set went in favour of Nigeria following the combination of Mirabel Onyegwu, Pamela Bawa to give Nigeria an edge of 25-13 pionts.
Both teams recorded equal strength in the fourth set winning point till the 20th before Nigeria took four straight points to reach 24 then made 25 to 22 points.
It was Nigeria’s first ever win hosting an age grade Girl’s tournament in Abuja since 2021 and also a first win in the current competition.
