Member of Parliament (MP) for Upper Sanaga-South Constituency in the Centre region, Hon Abomo Fama Marguerite Celestine is reported.
The announcement was contained in a press release signed by the Deputy Secretary General No 1, Abdoullaye Daouda on behalf of the speaker of the National Assembly on November 14, 2023.
According to the communique, Hon Abomo Fama died Thursday November 9, 2023 at the military hospital in Yaounde after a brief illness.
In the note issued on behalf of the speaker of the National Assembly, Cavaye Yeguie Djibril, they regret her passing on to glory a day before the start of the 3rd Ordinary session of the 10th legislative period.
“The right Honourable Speaker hereby extends his deepest condolences and those of all the Members of the National Assembly to the family of the deceased and to her constituents” the release stated.
The late MP was a member of the ruling Cameroon People’s Democratic Movement, CPDM party. Late Hon Abomo Fama was elected in October 2013 for the first time as MP for the Upper Sanaga, replacing Mvindi Obama Gaston and she was later re-elected for a second mandate during the twin Municipal and Legislative elections of 2020.
The dedicated CPDM politician was equally a member of the Cameroon-Denmark, Cameroon-Tunisia and Cameroon-Israel Interparliamentary Friendship Groups.
Her demise comes at a time when members of the National Assembly have resumed session to scrutinize and adopt the state budget for the 2024 financial year.
