Residents of Tourou found in Mayo Tsanaga Division, Far North Region of Cameroon have staged a protest against persistent attacks by terrorist sect, Boko Haram.
The residents, CNA reports, covered a 200km distance to get to the office of the region’s governor, Midjiyawa Bakary to make their grievance heard.
Over ten of theirs, they stated, have been killed and more taken captive by the terrorist group which is now demanding ransom for their release.
The situation, they added, has made them unable to stay in their homes for fear of being victim.
After listening to the protesters, the governor is said to have assured them that measures are in place to boost security.
The Far North Region of Cameroon has been subject to Boko Haram attacks since 2014 when President Paul Biya declares war on terrorism.
Cameroon has since in partnership with other Lake Chad Basin nations; Nigeria, Chad and Niger coordinated multiple attacks to root out the sect.
