The recently installed Senior Divisional Officer (SDO) for Fako, Viang Mekala has urged the population to observe Monday as a working day and has equally charged the forces of law and order to combat the sale of illicit fuel by the roadside.
The information is contained in two separate press releases dated 19 February 2024.
In a radio announcement, Viang Mekala said he had noticed a lukewarm attitude by denizens on Mondays. The day, he noted has been taken for leisure and other outdoor activities depriving it’s original purpose.
“Monday is a working day, thus all offices and services have to be open to the public from 7:30- 3:30 pm… Leisure activities on Monday will not be tolerated, this is to allow citizens go about their normal activities” the announcement read.
To all Heads of forces of defense and security Fako, the senior civil administrator requested that they take necessary dispositions to combat the sale of illicit fuel along the road side in the division.
This, he said was to maintain a clean city of which he demanded they treat with urgency.
