The days ahead promise to be hectic for separatist fighters in the North West and South West regions clamouring for the state of Ambazonia.
This is as a result of te deployment of special troops to the regions as solicited by the Minister Delegate at the Presidency in Charge of Defense.
The state approved “… The deployment of a detachment of Special Forces in the theaters of operations” read a portion of the Presidency’s August 29 reply, signed by the Secretary General.
The said special forces whose deployment has been authorized by President Paul Biya it added, comprises “… the Second and Fifth Joint Military Regions (RMIA2 and RMIA5).”
The separatist conflict it should be recalled, degenerated from a protest by lawyers and teachers in 2016. It went deadly a year later after aggrieved youths took up arms demanding a separate state they christened Ambazonia.
Thousands have since been killed in exchanges between the armed factions and the army, and hundreds of thousands displaced.
