Over 3000 nominations have been made in one week only for the music awards of The Cameroon International Music Festival, CIMFEST 2023. The Cameroon entertainment industry is taking the challenge to overcome mediocrity and mount excellence. CIMFEST is one of such steps which will count in revolutionizing the music sector in Cameroon to new dynamics.
This second edition from November 22-25 at the premises of the Molyko Omnisport stadium comes with more innovations. According to ace entertainment organiser, CEO of The Cliq Empire holdings who is President of CIMFEST, Prince Mykel Inobi, “this is something for the country and the culture and not my personal gains. I want to do a music festival that doesn’t just have a reputation in Cameroon but internationally.”
Regarding innovations, as disclosed in the show Tales and Cocktail by MC Dibenja, the entertainment entrepreneur Mykel Inobi elaborated on the new grids on CIMFEST this year. With a location change to the premises of the Molyko Omnisport stadium for the first three days of the event, only the awards night will now hold at the Mountain Hotel. While in giving back to the community, they will do CIMFEST Cares to reach out in partnership with the Belgian embassy and the Canadian High Commission to young girls affected by the crisis who don’t have basic sanitary materials.
Buea being the heart of Cameroon’s digital innovation, will see a 48 hour hacker-thon at CIMFEST to find a solution to a prominent problem in the entertainment industry. This is mapped out with Mountain Hub, which is the biggest tech hub in Central Africa.
The 4-day-long music sensation will have a foreign touch with bands landing from South Africa, Madagascar, Canada France and Congo as of now. The cream will be the award night branded from the people’s choice. Fans have the opportunity to nominate and vote artists who have done well, from the first edition till now on https://cimfest.com/ . In voting, everyone has a chance to win prices ranging from an iphone pro-max to a trip to Dubai.
In an open letter recently, Prince Mykel Inobi has opted for a new beginning where the energy for the continuous in-fighting from Cameroon entertainers and influencers will be turned to foster the industries growth.
On his social media handle he wrote, “Over the Years, Our Music industry has seen growth, struggles, fights, disagreements and so much more. Weighing in on all these elements critically, one would easily see clearly we have all been fighting the same fight from different angles.”
