Youths from the South West region have pleaded for Paul Biya to run for the upcoming presidential elections of Cameroon in 2025. They made the call during the celebration of his 91st birthday in Buea, on Tuesday 13 February 2024.
In joint voices with bikers syndicates and taxi drivers unions, the youths filed a motion of support through the Governor of the South West, Bernard Okalia Bilai. They assured Biya of their unwavering support and commitment towards his leadership and political ambitions. To him they said, “You can count on us and we can count on you”.
The Governor of the South West region, responding to the move expressed great joy and commended the youths for a successful celebration of the Youth Week, hitch free. The civil administrator said the President was proud of the youths of the South West.
“Yesterday the Head of State sent a message that I should tell you that he is proud of you, because of your stand. You have decided to reject all those manipulations concerning secessionist. He is so happy and proud.” The visibly satisfied Governor said.
South West Chiefs on their part offered a walking stick as a token of goodwill to Paul Biya whom they term, “father of the nation”. The staff, they said was beyond what the physical eyes met.
The governor in assuring the transmission of their messages and gift, promised that, “before 8 pm this Tuesday, the owner (Paul Biya) will have it.”
