Nigerian actor, Sylvester Madu brought into Bamenda, chief town of the North West Region of Cameroon by Dama Films to feature on a film titled “Abakwa” has remarked dissatisfaction at the organisers of his stay.
The crowd pulling Nigerian celebrity was part of a campaign to advocate against hard drug addiction. Following an invitation to a popular spot, Big G VIP in Mile 3 Nkwen, Bamenda 3 Subdivision at the end of the movie production. Sylvester Madu in a Live stream on Facebook, Friday December 01st extended thanks to the Cameroon police. While explaining that over his demands, no proper security was allocated. To him, they “underestimated” his popularity.
“The kind of crowd that I pulled, the streets were blocked , traffic everywhere, any sensible organizer will know that this man is not ordinary and should make proper security arrangements, which was a promise that was made to me. One of the reasons that made me relax is because of the kind of personality I am. I am a free moral personality. I like to mingle with people. Seeing the cheering of the people, I feel I’m loved and accepted.” He said.
Sylvester Madu, is popularly called “Shina Rambo” after his arguably most sold brutal film. In the outing from the confines of his hotel in Nigeria, he explained that, “there are a group of persons that were not happy with my presence or probably they have a notion that I don’t know of; the reason why they are angry with my presence. If it’s a fight between them, I got involved as a victim. But thank God I’m a victor and not a victim, forever until the Lord comes. My deep condolences to all the families whose loved ones are victims of this situation.”
The attack on the 25th November 2023 has been blamed on Anglophone separatist fighters by some. These who have picked up arms in a prevailing socio-political crisis for the past 7 years in the North West and South West Regions. “Even if you are fighting for freedom, it doesn’t mean killing your own person. It’s the wrongest thing to do”, Sylvester Madu remarked at the end of his social media outing.
