The FECAFOOT Ethics Committee has banned Donald Ngameni, from all football- related activities in Cameroon for life.
The now-former Unisport of Haut-Nkam president’s suspension comes after Cameroonian midfielder, Jean-Paul Makasso, who plays for FC Rodange in Luxembourg, filed a complaint against the club owner.
It is reported that in early August, the Unisport FC boss collected two million FCFA from Makasso, promising him a spot in the national team which never happened.
The Ethics Committee viewed the accusations submitted by the footballer legal and declared Donald Ngameni guilty of violating the general code of conduct.
Ngameni is accused of involving in corruption thereby violating article 13 line 1 and 3, and article 21 line 1 of FECAFOOT’s code of ethics.
Aside his life ban, Ngameni will pay a fine of 10,000,000 FCFA and has ten days to appeal the ruling, after which the decision will be termed permanent.
However, there are challenges to the Ethics Committee’s decision after the Court of Arbitration for Sports in a recent decision said the body was illegally constituted, demanding Fecafoot to reinstate members of the former committee.
The Court of Arbitration for Sports recently stated that the Ethics Committee was illegally created and demanded that Fecafoot reinstall former members of the committee.
